Shayne Evans is the Founder and President of the Academy Group. He previously held the role of Chief Executive Officer at the University of Chicago Charter School and served as the managing director of the University of Chicago Urban Education Institute. During his time at UEI, Evans co-founded The Success Project, a curriculum designed to prepare students for college access and graduation starting in 6th grade, which was featured in President Obama’s College Opportunity Day of Action. An angel investor, he focuses on supporting Black, Brown, and women-led startups in technology, hospitably, entertainment, and the cannabis industries. As a serial entrepreneur, he has helped launch companies focused on real estate development and event marketing.
